Vindication!

I've been saying this for years:

Matt Ridley (excerpt from lecture): Genes effectively have little switches on the front of them, called promoters, which consist of special sequences of DNA which are usually found upstream of the gene. We have a lot yet to learn about how these switches are thrown, but we do know that this opens the door for cultural and environmental influence upon genes, because the attachment of something to the promoter and therefore the expression of the gene, can in some cases be altered by factors extrinsic to the organism; by, in a word, experience.
